810 Days

For the first time in 810 days I recently had a day not filled with dozens of blasts of pain that would rate 9 on the Richter Scale.

This is not about pain; it’s about raising these questions:

How long are you willing to wait and preserve for even a slight sign of progress toward your goal? What’s your commitment to your goal? What do you do, day in and day out, to persevere? Here’s what I find helpful…

I think this: “If I could have one day of relief, I could have a second, and a third, and so on.”

I’ve since had some on this roller coaster ride, and I’m hungry for more. Very!

Also, to navigate the ups and downs of this, I keep and edit three lists:

  • Frustrations
  • Anxieties
  • An action plan of specific things I can do to make progress and overcome the challenging days

The first two lists validate the realities of experiencing a lot of pain over a long period of time. I allow myself to process it; though not give into it.

The third I find essential. I am in control of what I can control, and my 14 action steps are powerfully helpful and empowering sources for relief and energy for another day and more progress.

What works for you?

I look forward to your thoughts...
